At GLB Property Services, we’ve always believed in the power of community, and this Christmas, we’re doing everything we can to give back. With the festive season approaching, we want to ensure that those who don’t have a place to call home can feel a little bit of warmth, care, and hope.
We’re proud to be supporting two amazing local charities: Helping Hands and the LWS Night Shelter. These organisations are doing incredible work in our community, providing essential support to those facing homelessness, domestic abuse, mental health struggles, addiction, and other challenges that make it hard to feel safe and secure, especially during the colder months.
Helping Hands: Empowering Change, Offering Hope
Helping Hands has been supporting individuals and families in need since 2015. What makes them special is their approach – they don’t just offer a ‘hand-out’, they give a ‘hand-up’. Their mission is all about empowerment, helping people realise their potential and build a brighter future. Whether it’s through their soup kitchen, men’s and women’s support groups, or their House2Home initiative, Helping Hands offers real, lasting change.
This winter, we’re helping them with their essential services and donating to their Reverse Advent Calendar. We’ll be contributing much-needed items and encouraging our clients and staff to join in too. In addition, we’ll be hosting a fundraising event to support Helping Hands, and we invite everyone in the community to come along and show their support. It’s our way of showing we care and supporting those who need it most.
LWS Night Shelter: A Warm Place to Call Home
The LWS Night Shelter is a lifeline for those experiencing homelessness, providing not just shelter, but warmth, food, and companionship. It all started in 2015 when a group of compassionate students and locals came together to help the most vulnerable members of our community. Now, the shelter operates year-round, helping people through some of their toughest times.
This Christmas, we are supporting their Reverse Advent Calendar initiative again. This is a fun and practical way to help, by donating essential items every day leading up to Christmas. We will also be helping them spread the word and looking for volunteers to assist with their services during the busy festive season. We’ll be rolling up our sleeves to volunteer and help them provide warmth and support to those who need it the most.
Why These Causes Matter to Us
These charities are close to our hearts because they focus on helping people who don’t have a safe place to call home, especially when times are tough. Christmas is a time for giving, but it’s also a time to reflect on the importance of community and how we can support each other.
At GLB, we know that a home is so much more than just four walls – it’s about safety, stability, and peace of mind. We’re proud to be able to help those who need it most, and we encourage everyone in our community to do the same, whether by donating, volunteering, or just spreading the word.
